Japan’s lower house adopted a resolution expressing solidarity with Ukraine.
As Kyodo News media outlet informs, the document says that Tokyo is “gravely concerned and is always with the Ukraine people who hope for the stability of their country and the region.”
Japan’s lawmakers called on the countries concerned to restore stability to areas around Ukraine through diplomacy.
“Any change in the status quo by force is unacceptable,” reads the resolution.
Moreover, the MPs urged the government of Prime Minister Fumio Kishida to utilise all resources to bring peace.
The resolution underscores that Japan consistently supports Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. Tokyo has been cooperating with the international community, including the other Group of Seven members, to promote democracy in Ukraine and contribute to peace and stability in the region.
In January, the Prime Minister of Japan held talks with U.S. President Joe Biden. The leaders agreed to work together to curb the Russian Federation’s aggression against Ukraine.
