The city of Bastogne paid tribute to the soldiers who fought for freedom 78 years ago, as well as all those who are still fighting today, protecting democratic values.
On 10 December, nearly 300 members of the 101st Airborne Division, who are stationed in Europe due to the war in Ukraine, took part in the patriotic march.
“This military presence is unprecedented,” said mayor Benoît Lutgen, “We also invited the general of the 101st Airborne Division to participate in the traditional throwing of walnuts from the city hall balcony.”
The general was accompanied by Marta Barandiy, Head of NGO Promote Ukraine, who represented the Ukrainian people.
