Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights Liudmyla Denisova underscores an urgent need to evacuate 58 orphans and children deprived of parental care from the Kherson region.
“I appeal to all those involved and concerned in connection with the need to urgently evacuate children from a Kherson orphanage to a safe territory of Ukraine. The children have been hiding in the basement of a local church for more than a month. Of them, 10 children are from 4 months to 1 year old, the rest are under 4 years, including children with disabilities who need special care and treatment,” Denisova said.
The state has found a safe place for these children in a Ukrainian region where there are no active hostilities, the Commissioner noted. There, the orphans will be provided with all necessary assistance, treatment, and care.
“I ask everyone, who can help to transfer these children to a safe region of Ukraine, to take all possible measures to ensure the opening and functioning of a humanitarian corridor so that the children will be finally safe,” Denisova stressed.
