President of the European Council Charles Michel has arrived in Ukraine on an official visit as part of his tour to the Eastern Partnership countries.
His plane landed at Kharkiv airport, from where the official left for the Joint Forces Operation area in Donbas.
As the press service of the Office of the President of Ukraine informs, Charles Michel got acquainted with the operational situation on the contact line in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions and met with Ukrainian servicepersons and President Volodymyr Zelensky.
The second day of the visit, 3 March, will take place in Kyiv and will begin with a meeting of the European Council President with the representatives of anti-corruption institutions. Charles Michel also intends to visit a vaccination center.
“Two days in Ukraine: visiting the line of contact, honouring the memory of the victims of Maidan, seeing EU COVID-assistance in practice, discussions with President Zelensky on reforms and association, participation in Ukraine 30 forum on judicial reform,” said Head of the EU Delegation to Ukraine Matti Maasikas as he announced the programme of the visit on Twitter.
As a reminder, the President of the European Council began his visit to the Eastern Partnership countries on Sunday. On 28 February, he visited Moldova, where he met with President Maia Sandu. On 1 March, Charles Michel arrived in Tbilisi and held talks with President Salome Zourabichvili.
