Oleksandr Kubrakov, Deputy Prime Minister for the Restoration of Ukraine, has stated that about a million Ukrainians have interruptions in water supply due to the explosion at the Kakhovka HPP dam. In some settlements water is delivered by tankers, and drinking water has to be bought in bottles.
“An industrial water supply line with three sections with a total length of 150 km is being built now 24/7. The first section will provide water to the residents of Kryvyi Rih and neighbouring communities. Industrial water supply line is a complex project in terms of several parameters. First of all, this is an engineering solution, in fact, the water supply line is being built from scratch,” Kubrakov said.
He emphasised that the construction of a water supply line requires a lot of resources and equipment. The Ministry has already contracted all Ukrainian manufacturers of large-diameter plastic pipes, as well as booked all high-capacity pumping stations available for the project.
Production of this level of equipment takes 7-12 months. Ukraine does not have that much time. Therefore, the country is convincing world manufacturers to give us equipment out of turn.
“And the main challenge is a very short implementation period. The task is to launch the first section at the end of August. The Restoration Agency team is doing everything possible to meet such tight deadlines. I am grateful for the help and understanding of international partners who provide all possible assistance to complete this large-scale project as soon as possible,” summed up the Deputy Prime Minister for the Restoration of Ukraine.
