Ukrainian service members used a Turkish-made Bayraktar combat drone against Russian mercenaries in Donbas for the first time.
The news was spread online by several volunteers and journalists. This information was later confirmed by the press service of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, releasing a corresponding video.
It is noted that the combat drone was used to destroy the enemy artillery, which once again shelled the positions of the Ukrainian 93rd mechanised brigade near the village of Hranitne.
The Ukrainian military found a battery of howitzers, which the militants deployed just on the road. One D-30 shell was destroyed by a guided bomb.
As journalist Yuriy Butusov noted on his Facebook page, Russian air defence systems were used in the area of the operation and electronic warfare was deployed, but Russian-backed militants were unable to set up obstacles, shoot down or even detect a Ukrainian drone.
At the same time, the journalist noted that one Ukrainian soldier was killed in the enemy artillery shelling.
